CREATION'S SONG
Next
Life's first breath at nature's dawning—
Earth beholds its Maker's smile.
Source and End of every longing
In that garden undefiled.
With his voice God sculpts each mountain; Teeming wonders fill his earth.
Eden's glories burst like fountains.
Gift of life: creation's worth.
God's own nurturing hand so tender
Feeds his creatures from above.
Fields of lilies clothed in splendor,
Singing back creation's love.
See his works of power and beauty;
God's own image borne in us.
Care and rule our joyful duty
'Til our fall of pride and lust.
Earth now scarred and all that fills it,
Choked with dust and thorns and thirst.
Sore the hand that tends and tills it.
Plague of death: creation's curse.
Hear earth's praise now mixed with groaning
'Til that glory soon revealed.
Lo! A Savior's blood is flowing,
By whose wounds all wounds are healed.
Then no more this world be broken,
See one coming bright his robe.
Yes, Christ lives and he has spoken.
Coming soon: creation's hope!
Finish then thy new creation:
Earth redeemed; sin's curse untrue.
Life and final restoration.
Lord of all, make all things new!
Christ, to thee with God our Father
And O Holy Ghost belong
Praise alone. We praise no other,
Joining all creation's song.
